On CNN‘s Larry King Live Former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge said of the would be Christmas bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab:

I take a look at this individual who has been charged criminally, does that mean he’s going to get his Miranda warnings?

Does that mean the only kind of information we want to get from him is if he volunteers it. He’s not a citizen of this country. He’s a terrorist, and I don’t think he deserves the full range of protections of our criminal justice system embodied in the Constitution of the United States. (emphasis added)

So Tom Ridge, our former governor, is the person who determines whether a person is a terrorist. That is great news since the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is in such financial straits due to the Bush recession. We can disband all the courts in the state and save billions of dollars a year paying judges, juries, and other court costs. All we have to do is get Ridge to come back to Pennsylvania and pay him $50 million a year to decide the innocence and guilt of every accused person.

I wonder why Tom Ridge never displayed this super power when he was governor? I worked for the state when Ridge was governor; I never realized I worked for God. I wonder if Governor Ridge can use his divine powers to hold the “criminals” in suspended animation or something until he declares they are reformed or he sends them to hell. That way we can eliminate all prisons and save even more billions.

The following letter was received by John Rose.

John –

You helped build the most powerful and effective grassroots movement in America.

Now, you’re helping to define how this movement will support President-elect Obama’s agenda and continue to bring the change we need.

The more voices that are part of this process, the better the results will be.

And so far, the response has been remarkable — 550,000 people completed the online supporter survey. And this past weekend, supporters organized more than 4,000 Change is Coming house meetings in 2,000 cities across all 50 states.

Take an inside look at a house meeting in Virginia. Watch the video, see photos from meetings all across the country, and share your feedback.

Supporters like you are deciding how this movement will go forward. And your dedication is incredible.

House meetings were held in 2,000 cities. In Florida there were 302 events across the state. In Pennsylvania there were 165, and Ohio had 160.

From these meetings, survey responses, and thousands of conversations on My.BarackObama and email, your ideas about the future of this organization are taking shape.

Here are a few things you shared in the survey:

House meetings were the primary way supporters got involved in the campaign

People are excited to volunteer around a number of top issues, including education, the environment, health care, poverty, and the economy

86 percent of respondents feel it’s important to help Barack’s administration pass legislation through grassroots support

68 percent feel it’s important to help elect state and local candidates who share the same vision for our country

And a staggering 10 percent of respondents indicated that they would be interested in running for elected office

This feedback is essential to our next steps, because this movement is fueled by your ideas and your passion.

Watch the house meetings video and get involved by taking the survey or hosting a meeting of your own:

http://my.barackobama.com/meetingvideo

Between now and Barack’s inauguration, we’ll continue to collect your ideas and feedback.

After the inauguration, we should be able to announce a clear plan for the future of this movement — a plan determined by you.

Thanks for being a part of this journey to bring about change in the years to come,

If you want to stay involved in liberal politics now that the presidential election is over you might want to consider attending the meeting of LEAD Thursday, December 18th, at 6:30 PM. The meetings are held in the meeting room across from at the Sinkhole Saloon at the Palmyra Bowling Ally on Route 422 at the east end of Palmyra. You can order food at the Sinkhole and bring it over to the meeting room.

LEAD (Lebanon Exchange for Accountability in Democracy) “… is committed to promoting a progressive political agenda to improve the lives of the people of Lebanon County, PA, and to fight selfishness, greed, lies, incompetence, arrogance, corruption, and lack of respect for our individual rights from our elected officials.”

LEAD grew out of the Kerry campaign following the 2004 election. It is convened by Steve and Jackie Grumbacher who headed the Kerry campaign in Lebanon County.

The agenda for the December meeting is a holiday party. We will also discuss:

Planning a meeting with our local state representatives. At the last meeting, the group decided that it was time to begin dialogue with our State Senator and our two State representatives about our progressive issues. We need to plan how to contact them, whether we meet with them together, what issues to bring up, venue, and whether to open the meeting up to the public. Please join us to help in the planning.

Health Care. The Obama administration has made promises to try to fix our broken health care system and prospective incoming Secretary of HEW, Tom Daschle, has asked groups to get together locally to discuss what is needed to reform our health care. Our own John Rose will be leading the discussion on this subject. I know a lot of us have our own opinions on this, so come prepared. I’ve attached the Obama organization’s health care proposal initial thoughts for background. If you can’t make it, please send me your thoughts and I’ll forward them to John.
